I am both shocked and saddened by the loss of our friend Kevin. He was truly one of the great ones, always positive and a sense of humor that kept us all in good spirits. His love for family was ever present. We should all remember the good times with Kevin and that should not be difficult as there were so many.

My heart goes out to my dear, sweet friends, Valerie and Meredith. I have so many wonderful memories with Kevin and you. His delicious gin and tonics, his too-tall Christmas tree hanging from the ceiling in your great room, the time he carried the big picnic table inside on the 4th of July when we all said it was too hot to eat outside, him coming over to fix some broken appliance at our house, watching fireworks on the hill up the street, exploding Mentos in soda pop bottles in the driveway, arguing politics and playing silly games on our porch ... I could go on and on. I can't imagine life without our Kevin Cable. He was truly one of a kind.

There was something special about Kevin. He would listen in the background on team calls - and then say something either profound or hilarious. His kindness. His making you feel as though you were special to him. I felt safe with him and knew I could be me with him. I would get so mad when he called me shorty, and what I would give now to hear him call me that. I feel empty inside. Valerie & Meredith - I am profoundly sorry for the loss of your soulmate and father. He was the consummate family man - and friend. My thoughts & prayers are with you.

I can still hear that distinctive chuckle that Kevin had. The memory of it makes me smile. He will be sorely missed. The mountains have called and he has gone home. All my love to Valerie and Meredith.

I will miss his wit and wisdom. I'll always remember two things; his excitement (like a little kid) when he joined me for a Chiefs game and tailgate. He was not a huge sports fan, but his excitement was fun and contagious and the Christmas tree hanging from the ceiling (only Kevin would have thought that one up)!

The only thing that makes the loss of Kevin comprehensible is that we had the privilege of knowing Kevin, and the memory of his kindness, wit, good humor and love for his family. Kevin handled life well. He seemed to navigate the everyday with calm and steady pace, always with a bit of a smile or wit. He will be missed and we are better for sharing the time that we had with him. We hope Valerie and family can find some comfort in these words and wish them peace.

JANET DOZIER Oct 26, 2020

Hi Valerie, I'm so sorry for your loss. I wish I had words of wisdom to share, to say he is in a better place now, is true, but not very comforting. Jesus is with you even in your heartache. Psalms 34:17 -18 ESV, "When the righteous cry for help, the LORD hears and delivers them out of all their troubles. The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit." You are in my thoughts and prayers. Love you.
