Jon “Derek” Gibson, 58, died October 19th, 2020 from complications with Liver Cancer at his home in Independence, Missouri. Derek was born on September 22nd, 1962 to Del and Maralee Gibson. Derek had three siblings, Mike, Kelly, and Dana. When Derek met his wife, Roxanna, little did he know he was taking on three rowdy teenagers. He loved his stepchildren as if they were his own. He is survived by, his wife, Roxanna Gibson, and three stepchildren, Rachel Brasel and husband Cory Brasel, Ross Rinehart and wife Natalie Rinehart, and Renee Rinehart, six grandchildren, Dylan Lee, Logan Brasel, Jayden O’Bryan, Sophia O’Bryan, Olivia Rinehart, Rossy Rinehart, his mother Maralee Gibson, Oxford, England, a stepmother, Ann Gibson, West Plains, Missouri, and a sister Kelly Hunt, Kansas City. Derek also left behind many other family members and lots of friends. Preceding him in death were his father, Del Gibson, brother, Michael Martin, and brother, Dana Gibson. After cremation, a memorial gathering with friends and relatives was held in Liberty, Mo on October 23rd, 2020. Derek loved racing his motorcycle. He spent most of his free time racing his drag bike in places such as Tulsa, Oklahoma and Topeka, Kansas. Derek also loved his many cats and sometimes even the neighborhood skunk
