Nancy Diania Cockrill, Age: 68
Jul 17, 1952 - Nov 22, 2020

Nancy Diania Cockrill, age 68, passed away on November 22, 2020. Nancy was born on July 17, 1952 in Marysville, CA.

Nancy was a loving daughter, sister, wife (of 47 years to Howard Cockrill), mother (to Timothy and Amy Cockrill), and grandmother (to Alexander Lopez). Nancy and her husband, Howard, raised their family in Kansas City, MO.

Nancy and Howard attended Salvation Army Officer Training School in Chicago, IL.  She remained a devoted member of the Salvation Army her entire life.

No matter what challenges life threw her way, Nancy always remained positive, keeping a complete faith in God and that everything was in His hands.

She was always quick to make friends.  And always ready with a story to brag about her kids and grandson – always their biggest fan and supporter.

Nancy’s first concern was always the well-being of her loved ones.  Always ready to take care of them and make sure they were well fed.  An amazing cook, but never wrote recipes down because she “never made it the same way twice”.

Nancy’s greatest joy was spending time with family – whether it be gathering for a holiday, sharing a meal, watching a game, or just being outside chatting while she rocked in her swing.

She was greatly loved and will be missed by many.

Memorial services will take place on Mother’s Day weekend, 2021

My daughters and I are so blessed to have known the Cockrill family. For years Amy and I spent countless hours together, making memories along with causing some headaches for Nancy and Howard. But even still, years later when I began having children myself, Nancy had open arms and welcomed my daughters into their lives. She taught my girls so many things. And spent such attention and dedication to making sure that we all felt her love! Alia and Amya each had many firsts because of Nancy. Reading was a huge part of their time spent together. And I am so grateful to her for that even still! I will never forget picking up Alia at age 2 from Nancy one evening. She was so excited to share with me that "Nanchi" taught her how to spell balloon🎈! We love you Nancy. We look forward to seeing you again in Heaven. Thank you for EVERYTHING!

Nancy, one amazing woman. A second mother to me. Nancy and Howard both took me in as a teenager and let me live in their home and eat their food. No matter what we did a kids she always loved me as her own. She is truly one of a kind. I will never forget this wonderful woman and everything she has done for me. She will always have a piece of my heart. You will truly be missed. I love you so much!

My sister was a wee bit older than me so I didn't remember a lot of the stories she would tell me. I really loved her story about when I was a baby, mom let her strap me in a stroller & take me to town. I was her live baby doll. Tim & Amy that why she was such a great mother she practiced on me. I remember that I shredded my leg in bicycle spokes while riding double. When mom & dad left you in charge of Mike & me you were our referee. As adults our friendship grew. We ended every phone call with an I love you. Nancy Diania (sorry mom was a bad speller) all I have to say is I love you
