John W. Babler was born December 6th, 1933 in Exeter Township, Wisconsin to John P. and Alma (Klassy) Babler. He attended Belleville, WI public schools, graduating high school in 1951, then enrolled at the University of Wisconsin. In 1954 he was inducted into the U.S. Army and served in Austria, Germany and Italy. While in Italy, he served as a safety patrolman at the Cortina Winter Olympics. During his military service, he earned The European Occupation Medal, The National Defense Medal and The Good Conduct Medal. In 1956 he resumed his education at the University of Wisconsin, earning a BS in Biochemistry and Food Science. In 1960 he joined Oscar Mayer Foods in Madison, Wisconsin. In his 35-year career, he worked in Madison, Detroit, Los Angeles and Chicago, retiring in 1995.
True to his roots, John was a loyal Wisconsin sports supporter and an avid Green Bay Packer fan.
John is survived by his former wife, Peggy Babler, of Arlington Heights, IL and his three sons, Jay W. of Lowell, Michigan, John P. of Kansas City and Matthew J. of Shawnee, Kansas. John was a proud grandpa of six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
