Nathan Alan Hogancamp, 44, of Kansas City, MO passed away Tuesday, March 30, 2021, at the Kansas City Hospice House. A memorial service is being planned for May 8 with burial at the Iowa River Church of the Brethren near Green Mountain. Memorial contributions may be made to: University of Northern Iowa Foundation, Music Education Scholarship #213128.
Nathan was born on Tuesday, September 21, 1976, at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls, IA. Following graduation from Cedar Falls High School in 1995, Nate attended the University of Northern Iowa and then worked as a telemarketer for APAC. He relocated to KC in 2002 and married Jessica McNickle in August of 2010 in Estes Park, CO. Nathan attended UMKC and then pursued employment at Sprint, FreightQuote, and Dex Media and most recently Spring Venture Group.
One of Nathan’s personal passions was music which encompassed the Noah Goode Band and the Big Delicious Band. Writing, performing, and recording original music as well as lyrics were at the heart of his creative endeavors. The Bulls, Bears, Cubs, UNI Panthers, and UI Hawkeyes lead the many, many, many sports teams Nate followed. He loved his Siamese cats, cooking, golfing, and crossword puzzles. Nate enjoyed socializing with a variety of incredible groups of friends and colleagues. His nieces, Sadie and Gemma, were a favorite topic of “Uncle Nate’s.”
Nathan was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Frances and Lester Hogancamp, and maternal grandparents, Virginia and John Zink. Nate is survived by his wife Jessica McNickle (KC); mother Nancy Standafer (John), Cedar Falls; father Randy Hogancamp (Jane Whitehead), Cedar Falls and Chicago; sister Amanda Shine (Dan), Conrad; two nieces, Sadie and Gemma; in-laws Sally and Robert McNickle, Ashland, KS; sister-in-law Jill (Emily), Dallas; and a band of loving friends.
