Ralph launched his career in 1960 with Thompson-Hayward Chemical Co. as a salesman, and soon worked his way up the ranks of sales manager, branch manager, and regional manager. Ralph and Joan then moved to the company’s Kansas City headquarters in 1977 when he was promoted to Senior Vice President. In 1981 Thompson Hayward was purchased by Harrisons & Crosfield, and Ralph was named President and served as CEO until he retired in 1990.

After retiring, Ralph and Joan spent many winters vacationing on their favorite island in Hawaii and many summers at John and Lisa’s lake home in Michigan.

Ralph was an avid golfer. For many years he and Joan belonged to Blue Hills Country Club in Kansas City, where in earlier years you could find him out on the golf course with his friends and family.

In addition to loving the game of golf, he enjoyed other outdoor sports, such as boating, hunting and fishing.

To the Whole Ripley family, Deepest sympathies on Ralph’s passing. What a great life he lived with the love of all of you guys (and so many gch and ggch!) . Joan I’m so sorry for your loss. So hard to let loved ones go. May your memories sustain you. Kathy, Debbie, Patty, John I know it is not easy to lose a parent (my mom 4 years ago passed). May the love you undoubtedly know he had for you sustain you in the tough hours. I loved Ralph, even though he scared the bleep out of me most of the time. In the end he had a softy heart that I could always see through to. Love to all you Ripey’s. Fond memories of our times in Minnesota on Dvorak and Wayside roads! I’m smiling thing of him right now. Susan ❤️
