Joshua Lyn Baldwin, Age: 45

Joshua Lyn Baldwin, born November 13 1975, of Lees Summit, MO was called home on Sunday April 18, 2021.  He was surrounded by family as he peacefully passed away in his home under hospice care after a difficult and courageous fight with cancer.  He is preceded in death by his mother, Gaylen Baldwin, his grandparents Joyce and John A. Hill Jr, and uncle John A. Hill III.

 

Josh grew up in Raytown Missouri and graduated from Raytown South High School in 1994.  In high school, he performed in many of the theater productions and was on the debate team.  He went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communications from Drake University in 1998.  While in college, he served as RA of the dorm floor and started working in radio in Des Moines IA.  After college Josh, married his high school sweetheart, Trish on June 19, 1999 and moved to Lees Summit MO.   Josh worked in marketing as a copywriter, graphic designer, website designer and did social media content for a group of radio stations in Kansas City and later moving on to a local real estate company for over 20 years.

 

Josh was a family man who adored his kids and would do anything for his family.  He was a dance dad and even performed with his daughter in some of father daughter dances for recital.  He was active in scouts with his son and was inducted into the tribe of mic-o-say in the summer of 2020 as honorary warrior.  His hobbies included playing video games, watching movies with family, collecting batman comic books and action figures, and a master of trivia.

 

He is survived by his wife Patricia (Trish), his children Madison and Gavyn Baldwin, brother Jakobb Baldwin, aunt and uncle Diane and Jim DeLong, aunt Susan Hill and several cousins. 

 

A memorial service will be held at 1pm on Saturday April 24 2021 at Fairmount United Methodist Church, 2119 S Jackson Dr., Independence, MO.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to the National Kidney Foundation in Josh’s name.

This is my first year diving the bus so I have not known Gavyn and Madison very long. However, the character that both display says a lot about the their father.
