Lance Edward Green
Nov 23, 1962 - Jul 19, 2021

Sunrise: 11/23/1962

Sunset: 07/19/2021

Born in Kansas City, Missouri but raised in Pomona, California.  That is where his initial interests in the arts began. He received his education in the Pomona Unified School District up until his return back to his home town of Kansas City to reconnect with family and that is when and where he discovered his true lifelong passion, his love for music.

A welder by trade, Lance worked for more than 25 years at Hi-tech Overlay with a great group of people that he came to love like they were his family, and they him. He could tell some of the best stories unlike anyone else you know. He was known to be a straight shooter and to one of our uncles, “Lance had one of the cleanest tongues because he never bit it”. As a DJ, Lance or DJ Smooth as he was well known had a song for every mood, every emotion, every occasion because he breathed, ate and slept music of all genres.

Lance is preceded in death by his mother, Gayle Simmons, his father William Green Sr. and a nephew Chauncey Johnson. He is survived by his siblings: Janice Scott, Victoria Deloatch, Jesse Coleman Sr., William Green Jr., Lee Simmons Jr., Leah Simmons, and ShaLynda Johnson.

Along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death.  (Philippians 1:20)
