Kathleen Yvonne Zell, 79, of Lee's Summit, Missouri, passed away Saturday, August 28, 2021 at the home.
Kathie was born September 19, 1941, in Moline, Illinois. She is survived by her husband, William Edward Zell, of the home; children Stephanie (Curt) Newsom, Lee’s Summit, Mo., Mark (Kristen) Zell, Liberty, Mo. and Kristi (Brandon) Furlong, St. Joseph, MO.; grandchildren, Kylie (Brian) Orrick, Garrett Newsom, Kassidy Newsom, Zack Zell, Kamryn Zell, Leyton Furlong and Mack Furlong.
Kathie lived in Shawnee, Ks. for 5 years, 25 years in Overland Park and the last 30 years in Lee’s Summit, Mo. She was a charter member of Hillcrest Covenant Church in Prairie Village, Ks., and later a charter member of Deerbrook Covenant Church in Lee’s Summit, Mo.
Kathie was devoted to her husband Bill and loved spending time with their children and grandchildren, especially attending their sports and activities. Bill and Kathie met at Ottawa University and were married 60 happy years. Going to the lake or a Royals game would be top on her list followed closely by playing bridge with friends or shopping. She was blessed with a strong faith in Jesus and could often be found in her recliner reading a devotional. Kathie was loved by all that knew her.
A visitation will be held Thursday, September 16, 2021, at 4:00 pm followed by a memorial service at 5:00 pm, at Deerbrook Covenant Church, Lee’s Summit, Mo.
