Gerald “Jerry” Guy West, (age 77) of Platte City, passed away on September 22nd, 2021

surrounded by family.

Jerry was born in Seattle, Washington on Nov. 10, 1943. His parents later moved to Juneau,

Alaska, where he grew up. Jerry met his wife, Sandy, when he was serving in the Air Force, in

Lincoln, Nebraska. They were married in August of 1965 and then moved to KCMO, where he

was employed with TWA/American Airlines for forty-one years. He loved being around aircraft.

Jerry is survived by Sandy (Mook) West, his wife of 56 years; his sons, Todd West (wife Sandy),

Steve West (wife Jessica), Brad West (wife Ashley); five grandchildren, Geoffrey West (wife

Ashlyn), Jared West, Kate West, Lauren West and Andrew West; two great grandchildren,

Megan and Matthew West; his brothers Greg and Pat West, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Billie D. and Florence (Hanbury) West, and brothers

Billy and Johnnie.

Jerry’s wit and humor was one of his trademarks. He absolutely loved being a grandfather and

great grandfather, as well as traveling with the love of his life. Jerry was a member of First

Christian Church of Platte City, and past member of the Lion’s Club.

Private services will be held at Leavenworth National Cemetery, as well as a Celebration of Life,

and will be announced at a later date.
