Donald Robert Bishop
Mar 09, 1939 - Nov 09, 2021

Donald Robert Bishop joined his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, November 9, 2021.   He was born the son of Doyle and Virgie (Goode) Bishop on March 9, 1939 in Indianola, Iowa.

He grew up in Indianola and worked for Bookey’s and Swift meat packing plants in Des Moines, Iowa early in his career. He married Phyllis (Van Roekel) in 1975, uniting their seven children.  He worked the remaining years of his career self-employed doing various construction and handyman services. They retired to Branson, Missouri in the late 1990’s where they enjoyed going to shows, sightseeing in the Ozarks and being active members of Skyline Baptist Church.  They developed many close friends in Branson who will miss him dearly.  He was an avid gardener and always took pride in a well-manicured lawn.  He loved working with his hands and you would always find him tackling new projects around the house or for his neighbors. Don enjoyed watching old westerns when he didn’t have a tool in hand. He lost his beloved wife of 43 years in 2018.

Surviving family members include siblings, Kathy (John) Evans, Kay Netley, & Bill (Lois) Bishop, children; Jeff Bishop, Doug Bishop, Mike Jenson (Judith), Joy Malaise (Gary Ostegard), Malinda Krecl, Allen Malaise (Sandy), 14 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
