Leonard Leroy Clements, age 78, died peacefully at home on November 7, 2021. Leonard was born May 27, 1943, in Guilford, Missouri, the son of Elmer Burton and Mary Margaret Meyers Clements, St. Joseph, Missouri. He graduated from Benton High School, St. Joseph, Missouri in 1961 and married the love of his life, Judith Gardner Clements on March 3, 1962, residing in Kansas City, Missouri most of their lives.
He is survived by his wife, Judith, son Steven Todd Clements of Kansas City, Missouri and daughter Kelly Lynn (Jake) Catherell of Kansas City, Missouri; five grandchildren: Brandon (Kelsey), Courtney Jacobson, Hunter, Colt, and Ivy; and four great-grandchildren: Ryder, Carly, and Carson Jacobson, and Connor Clements; and sister Betty Craig of Chappell Hill, North Carolina, and brother Marion B. (Martha) of St. Joseph, Missouri, and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Mary Margaret Clements; daughter, Lynn Leanne (stillborn); sisters, Patricia Jones and Marlene Clements; and brother, Cleo Cletus Clements.
He retired from Associated Wholesale Grocers after 30 years of employment and worked part-time at Maple Woods College for 10 years. Up until recently he was working at the job he thoroughly enjoyed as a concrete estimator with Affordable Mudjacking.
Being a self-taught man, he was a man of many talents. His carpentry skills were impeccable offering his help to all family and friends. Being a true outdoorsman, he was an avid hunter and a great fisherman, and his quick wit and amazing story-telling would captivate everyone. He never knew a stranger, always made you feel special and more like family. He enjoyed many Colorado, Cook County, Minnesota, and South Missouri trips, but his true joy was being with family.
A life well lived, Leonard was a servant of Christ, had a kind and generous heart, and a genteel soul. He was a good man, a man of the utmost integrity. He was a blessing in our lives. We are all blessed to have known him.
We thank Kansas City Hospice for their kind and compassionate care for Leonard, but a special thanks to Leticia for being our angel in our last days.
