Vera Ruth Myers, 86, entered her heavenly home on January 5, 2022. She was born on October 11,1935 to Herman F. and Letha Violet Reinsch in Kansas City, MO. She graduated from Ruskin High School then attended Kansas City Junior College. Vera transferred to Central Missouri State College earning a Bachelor of Science in Education. She married Robert Myers, on May 30, 1957, with whom she shared her life until his death in 2016. Following her dream, Vera taught physical education in the Raytown school district. She left after 5 years to be a full-time homemaker and mother. Beginning in 1978, she worked as a personal assistant to J. C. Nichols Jr. until 2012. Vera was a founding member of Colonial Presbyterian Church participating in Sunday school, women’s circles, bible study and prayer committee. She was also a member of the Ararat Needle Guild for Shriner’s hospitals for children. Her family was her greatest pride and joy and she enjoyed supporting all their endeavors. Vera was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Eugene Myers. She is survived by her two daughters, Robin Thompson and Janet (Curt) Huckabee, 5 grandchildren, Rachel (Kevin) Burns, Jennifer (John) Widel, Robert (Mary) Thompson, Luke (Angela) Buckwalter, Jacob (Kaylee) Reiman and 7 greatgrandchildren, Cameron Buckwalter, Liam Buckwalter, Keagan Buckwalter, Emma Widel, Alice Widel, Katherine Widel and Nora Thompson. A service will be held Saturday, Jan. 15, 2022, 2:00pm at Colonial Presbyterian Church, 9500 Wornall Rd, KCMO. A private interment at the National Cemetery in Leavenworth, KS will occur at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 4400 Clayton Ave., St. Louis, MO 63110, Att.: Developmental Dept., Children’s Mercy Hospital or St. Jude’s Hospital
