Audrey Curran, Age: 79
Apr 11, 1942 - Jan 01, 2022

Audrey Curran, 79 of Lee’s Summit, passed away on January 1, 2022 after a short battle with cancer.  A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 23, 5:00-8:00pm at Lakewood Oaks Country Club.  Bring stories and experiences to share should you have any.  Her instructions to the family were that she did not want a traditional funeral but simply to get everyone together and “I will buy them a drink or two”.  In keeping with her request that is what the family will do.

Audrey, or Cookie as she was known as by her family, was born in San Diego, CA and was raised in Fort Worth, TX. She graduated from Our Lady of Victory Academy in Fort Worth, TX and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Government and Economics from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX.  She was the first female president of the Texas Tech Pre-Law Club and had her mind set on becoming an attorney.  Marriage changed her career path and she went on to become a teacher. Audrey received her Master’s Degree in Reading Education from UMKC.  She was certified to teach in five different states and spent the majority of her career teaching reading for the Lee’s Summit School District.  She also coached girl’s tennis at Lee’s Summit North High School and Lee’s Summit High School.

After retiring she became a snowbird and spent winters in Bradenton, Florida.  She could often be found on the tennis court, golf course or playing cards with friends.

She is survived by her husband of fifty-seven years Mike, daughter Kimberly (Lee’s Summit, MO) and sister Beatrice Whitfill (Grapeland, TX).

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to KC Hospice.

Mike and Kim would like to thank everyone for their outpouring of love and support during this difficult time.
