Martha E. Lambert passed away December 31, 2021 at Dunn’s Vista in Baldwin City, KS. In keeping with her wishes, a private family graveside service will be held for her in the Kansas City area. She will be interred with her husband, of 69 years, the late Dr. Lloyd H. Lambert.
Martha was the second of two daughters born to Charles and Ethel Dillon on June 6, 1929 in Enid, OK. Her formative years were spent in Enid, OK with a loving family including her sister Maxine (Ireland). She attended Enid High School where she participated in the percussion section of the band, theater, as well as the Enid Drum and Bugle Corps. She remained in Enid to attend Phillips University where she earned a B.S. in Elementary Education. She was a member of the Zonta Social Service Club and was Homecoming queen. She met her future husband Lloyd, while participating in the percussion section of the University band. They were married on March 15, 1951. Together they had two sons, David and Michael.
Martha and Lloyd’s life journey from beginning to end was grounded in Christian service. After Lloyd completed his education at the Phillips Theological Seminary, they served no less than eight churches. Martha walked beside, not behind her husband as they ministered to the needs of countless lives. She was Lloyd’s best friend, confidant, sounding board, as well as his wife. She was involved in many church and civic organizations in Enid, including Christian Women’s Fellowship, Church Women United, book clubs and PEO. Together they also shared many fun times with extended family, traveled the world and directed multiple tours of the Holy Land. Martha was perhaps most proud of being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Martha is preceded in death by her husband Lloyd and Sister Maxine (Ireland). She is survived by sons David (Colette), Michael (Joan); grandchildren Grant (Emily), Harrison (Kassi), Connor, Jesse Dez (Kristen), Renelle (Leo), Collin (Jessie); great-grandchildren Elliot, Calvin, Camdyn, Rose, Jay, Carter, Nolan, and Landon.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorial donations may be given to the Lloyd and Martha Lambert Scholarship Fund-Phillips Theological Seminary, 901 N. Mingo Road, Tulsa, OK 74116.
