Sean Jeffrey Zander, 58, of Kansas City, MO died at his home May 7, 2022. Although he lost his life to liver disease, he will be remembered for the way he unapologetically lived it. Sean's warmth and artistic talent will stay with us in both his own artwork and in the pieces he collected.
Sean’s industrious and tireless work ethic began with his first job when he was eight. He talked a store manager into hiring him to retrieve grocery carts people carelessly abandoned. As a young man, he worked in the restaurant business for Gilbert/Robinson, traveling widely to open restaurants for them. He also worked as a free-lance grip in the film industry before finding his calling in landscaping for the last 30 years. He was a landscape artist and meticulously shaped plantings, water features and stone work making other peoples' yards as beautiful as his own.
True friends were important to Sean, and he had too many to name. They enjoyed his vigorous personality and fearless sense of humor. Loyal friends and unconditional love are the hardest things to find and Sean had both. In 2005 he married his adoring wife, Lori Thate, who preceded him in death in 2012.
Sean is survived by his parents Robert and Sue Fulson of Kansas City, MO; Siblings Martin Zander,IV (Missi) of Kansas City, MO, Donna Gale Fulson of Los Angeles, CA, Matthew Fulson (Mia) of Lee’s Summit, MO, Pam Orrigio (Winston) of Elkridge, MD, and Debbie Davis of Independence, MO, a host of nieces and nephews, paternal uncle Glen Zander {Donna) and his son Patrick Zander (Pam) of Atlanta, GA and extended family Julie Starnes and her son John Starnes of Richland, MO, long time friend John Gronemeyer of Kansas City, MO and constant canine companion, Tikki.
Sean was preceded in death by his father Martin Charles Zander, III, his paternal grandparents Martin and Lida Zander, maternal grandparents Marvin and Martha Leftwich, his wife Lori Thate Zander and his brother Robbie Fulson.
