Philip Shall Gemmill, Age: 82

Philip Shall Gemmill, 82, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2022, after a heroic battle with Lewy Body Dementia.  Phil was born on October 13, 1939, in Harrisburg, PA.  After high school he joined the Navy and served three years on the USS F.D. Roosevelt (CVA-42) and then three years in the Naval Reserve.  He attended Kent State University and graduated with a degree in Marketing.

 

Phil owned a printing and graphics business in San Diego for 30 years. He loved technology and built many computers for clients and friends. Phil met Karen Bowers in 1997.  Karen lived in Los Angeles, and they travelled between LA and SD on weekends.  In 2000 they moved to Lake of the Forest in Bonner Springs, KS to be with Karen's family.  They moved to Olathe, KS in 2006 and married in 2009.

 

Phil always had a smile and loved to make his friends laugh.  He never met a stranger. He loved his cats, a great cup of coffee, and a good beer.  He had a passion for cars. 

Phil was always happy. He loved life.

 

He is survived by his wife, Karen Bowers, and his brother-in-law and his sister-in-law, Chuck and Cheryl Bowers, of Southwest Harbor, ME.

Dearest Karen, Phil was such a big part of Monte’s and my life for many years. He loved to laugh, and loved to make others laugh. That’s a great way to remember him❤️
