Edna Lowe died peacefully at home with family at her side on June 3, 2022. She was 92
Edna Dolores Shaw was born Sept 15, 1929 in Neillsville, Wisconsin to George E. Shaw and Clara A. Wedekind Shaw
She is preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband of 60 years, Richard (Dick) Lowe and four brothers, Clarence, Louis, Henry (Bob) and George.
She is survived by her son, Jeffrey (Deborah), her daughter Marie Ferguson (Mark), 4 grandchildren, Ryan Lowe (Shawn) Erin Lowe Carlson (Eric) Matthew Ferguson (Hayden) and Megan Ferguson Rutledge (Cole), 11 great grandchildren, Elliott, Owen, Ainsley, Avery, Asher, Audrey, Stoney, Adelynn, Lowell, Peyton and Vala, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins
Edna attended a number of country schools but graduated from Neillsville High School in 1947. She married her high school sweetheart, Richard (Dick) Lowe in 1948. They worked side by side in various businesses, but finally retired after 25 years of owning and operating the Topsy’s Popcorn Shoppes at Metcalf South in Overland Park, KS and St. Joseph, MO.
She was a former member of ABWA, The Rebekah’s, First Presbyterian Church of Olathe, as well as a charter member of Phi Tau Omega and a current member of New Hope Presbyterian Church.
Edna and Dick enjoyed a wonderful retirement by traveling, spending time with family and friends, as well as being members of the singing group “Singers & Strutters”. They toured the countryside in their 1929 Ford Phaeton with the Plane Old A’s car club until Dick’s passing in 2008.
Edna later took up tap dancing and learned to play the banjo. She also enjoyed many years volunteering at the 1st Presbyterian Church food pantry. An avid walker and devoted grandma and great grandma she enjoyed attending baseball games, rodeos, dance and swim lessons as well as birthday parties and school events.
Edna had a strong Christian faith and God blessed her with the great joy of being surrounded by loving family and friends.
A memorial service for Edna will be held on Monday, June 27th at the New Hope Presbyterian Church located at 13310 S. Black Bob Rd, Olathe, KS 66062. Visitation will be at 10:00 am followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00.
