Jean Marguerite Zehner

Jean Marguerite Zehner, 90, of Lenexa, Kansas, died at 12:02 a.m. Tuesday, June 7, 2022, at Sunrise of Lenexa Assisted Living in Lenexa, Kansas. She was born September 29, 1931, in Plymouth, Indiana to Hillis & Edna (Casper) Rhoades, then later adopted along with 2 sisters by Hershel Tracy.

 

She married Arthur W. Zehner on May 20, 1951, who preceded her in death. Together they had 3 children, Lynette (John) Peters of Venice, FL, Todd (Claire) Zehner of Shawnee, KS, and Michael Zehner of Wichita, KS who preceded her in death.  Surviving grandchildren: Angela (Mark) Toney of Virginia Beach, VA, Jarred Scifert navy USS Ronald Reagan, Grant (Erin) Zehner of Overland Park, KS, Tye Zehner of Kansas City, MO, Adam Zehner of Wichita, and Arie Zehner of Wichita.  Great-grandchildren include Adaline, Garrett, and Gavin Toney, Aalon and Rowan Zehner, and Amelia and Charlotte Zehner.

 

Jean attended Guernsey Church of the Brethren in Monticello, Indiana for 50 years participating and serving on Women’s Fellowship, Church Council, and loved helping with the annual Ham & Bean Supper fundraiser. Family was always her focus however she did spend time working outside the home at the White County Courthouse, and as a secretary at Woodlawn Elementary School. In her later years she volunteered at the White County Food Pantry. She loved playing cards, Euchre being her favorite, and teaching her grandchildren and others all kinds of games. Sending greeting cards was also a passion. A simple service is being planned for a later date. She will rest at Pike Creek Cemetery in Monticello, Indiana united with husband Art Zehner.
