March 29, 1957 - June 6, 2022
Letitia Ann Reid, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away at the age of 65 last Monday on June 6th after a brief battle with cancer.
Letitia “Tisha” was born on March 29th, 1957 to parents Gwen and Gene Rice in Kansas City, Kansas. Tisha graduated from Shawnee Mission South High School in 1975. Upon graduation Tisha attended Kansas State University for a couple years until the sudden passing of her mother, Gwen, when she was just 20 years old. She moved back to Overland Park, Kansas and then pursued a career in sales. Tisha became a Sales Representative for Coca-Cola and was quickly promoted to Account Manager; a title she would hold for nearly fifteen years before deciding to start a family.
In 1987 Tisha met James Reid at a pool party through mutual friends that quickly blossomed into a relationship. Tisha and James were married on May 21, 1988. Soon after they bought a house and decided to raise a family. They had 3 children Jake, Joe, and Maggie Reid born in 1993,1994, and 1995.
Tisha was most proud and passionate about being a mom. She wanted to be present every step of the way for the upbringing of her children, so she decided to step down from her role as Account Manager and be a full-time mom. Her three children were very active and loved to play sports growing up. She absolutely adored going to all their games and actively cheering them on. She never missed a weekend tournament or a weeknight game or practice. Once the children were older, she started to work again to help support the family. She landed a job being a pre-school teacher at Saint Michaels Day School. She would work there until her death.
For those that knew Tisha her favorite thing to do was laugh. People gravitated to her personality because of how humorous, fun loving, and happy she always was. She loved going to the pool during the summers and rooting on her Chiefs every fall and winter. Above all she enjoyed most just being around the family, whether it was at a family members lake house in Minnesota or just hanging out in her back patio.
Tisha is survived by her husband James Reid of 34 years, her brother Jerry Rice, and her three children Jake Reid (29) Joe Reid (28) and her daughter and son-in-law Maggie and Josh Pedersen all from the Kansas City, Kansas area.
A celebration of life will be held at Atonement Lutheran Church, 9948 Metcalf Avenue, Overland Park, KS 66212 on Saturday, June 18, 2022 at 2pm. In Lieu of flowers the family simply asks that you wear colorful outfits in order to honor their beloved Mom, Sister, and Wife.
