Janet A. Ready
Janet Ready, age 75, of Oak Grove, MO. passed away on Thursday, July 28, 2022 at her home surrounded by her family. Jan is the daughter of the late Charles and Virginia (Berkenshaw) Holden and was born July 20, 1947 in Jersey City, New Jersey. She was raised in Washington Township, New Jersey and relocated to Cornwall, NY where she raised her children. There she was an active member of the Bethlehem Presbyterian Church and coached little league softball. In 1991, she moved her family to New Smyrna Beach, Florida where it quickly became her “happy place”.
She was employed at Bert Fish Medical Center and Halifax Hospital. She was a proud band parent, Hospice Volunteer, Young Life Volunteer, and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of New Smyrna Beach.
Throughout her life she was an avid bowler, loved to play and coach softball, was a member of the Elk’s Club, and was known as “Mom” to everyone. She enjoyed sports, especially the NY Giants, Yankee’s and Georgia Bulldogs. Her biggest joy in life was her family; they were her pride and joy. She especially loved watching her grandchildren grow.
She is survived by her loving daughters: Michelle (Andrew) Hampton of Oak Grove, MO. and Jeanie (Dirk) Winston of St Augustine, FL. Her beloved grandchildren: Abigail, Matthew and Anna Hampton and Henry and Alyse Winston. She also leaves many, many close friends with wonderful memories.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Ritchie.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making a donation to your local hospice or Young Life chapter in Jan’s honor.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday August 13th at the New Smyrna Beach Garden Club at 3 pm.

As a fellow New Yorker and also recent move to the Springs Of Independence to be near grandchildren, we had much in common. Since we both drove back east for visits we enjoyed speaking of how different the Midwest is. Having our grandchildren over for sleepovers and meeting at soccer we became friends. I will miss her smile and kindness. Carol
