Br. David-Mark Campbell, Age: 66
May 15, 1956 - Oct 07, 2022

Br. David-Mark Campbell, n/OSB, 66, of Olathe, Kansas, joined his heavenly father on October 7, 2022. A member of the Companions of St. Luke, a dispersed religious community in the Episcopal Church, David-Mark was a gentle soul who loved his wife, Martha Lamoy, and his cats Naomi and Midnight. A poet; student of philosophy; and connoisseur of music from Mahler to Dylan, David-Mark never stopped studying his masters from Ted Hughes to Nick Cave. He graduated from Shawnee Mission South High School, where he participated in theatre, choir and Army ROTC. He graduated cum laude with a BA from Pacific Lutheran University, and took graduate-level classes at the University of Washington and Berkeley. He enjoyed cooking and was an outstanding athlete, having participated over the years in swimming, football, soccer, and competitive cycling. David-Mark appreciated the members of his faith community at St. Thomas the Apostle Episcopal Church who encouraged and supported him. He was a Vietnam War era Army veteran. He leaves to celebrate his life his adored wife, Martha Lamoy, and two cats, of the home; his sisters, Dr. Barbara Campbell, Cave Creek, AZ, and Patti Campbell, Springfield, MO; and his sister-in-law Anne Lamoy, Rosedale, KS. He is preceded in death by his parents, Mahlon and Barbara (Welch) Campbell, as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins. A celebration of life will be held at 6:30 p.m. on October 27, 2022, at St. Thomas the Apostle Episcopal Church, Overland Park, KS. A reception/visitation will follow the service. Private interment will be at Leavenworth National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Johnson County Interfaith Hospitality Network or the National Alliance on Mental Illness.

Oh sweetie this is such a hard thing to go through. Know that you're not alone. It's not something we ever graduate from we just learned to live again. I will be praying continuously for you. The thing that helped me the most was a grief group. I'm also in a Bible study with other widows which has been wonderful. Trust in the Lord to see you through. Your friend Laramie

Our deepest sympathy to you Martha. I remember David-Mark from my childhood, playing in yard at Grandma/Grandpa Campbell's. Guinea hens scrambbled at our feet. He playfully teased just like his father Uncle Mahlon. May he rest in peace and may you and his sisters Barbara and Patti remember beautiful times in your lives with him, to help heal the sorrow & grief of missing one so dear. Hugs from Canada love Fran and Dan

What a blessing it has been knowing and sharing Br. David-Mark’s formation with The Companions of St. Luke, OSB. He had a keen mind and was faithful in all that he did and said. I was spiritually fed in our conversation and his commitment and love of his wife was a powerful testament to me and all who were part of his life. You have completed your work in this life dear Brother and you continue your journey with God through Christ and the Saints. I will miss you, Br. Raymond, OSB
