James "Jim" Marfield, Age: 78
Oct 28, 1944 - Nov 15, 2022

Gone but not Forgotten

James “Jim” Marfield passed away on November 15, 2022, at age 78, with his beloved wife Jeanette by his side. His battle with serious medical issues in recent years showed his courage in facing life’s challenges with a smile. Despite the pain, Jim never lost his clever sense of humor and stayed strong until the end.

After graduating from Ruskin High School in Kansas City, MO, in 1962, Jim started his 40+ year printing career, where he became a member of the Graphics Communication Union Local #16. Jim had an impressive career that ultimately included high-level consulting roles and managing printing plant operations. Jim prided himself on never missing a day of work until his retirement.

Jim married his first wife, Billie Taylor, in the late 60s, and they started a family that included two twin boys born in 1969 and a daughter born in 1979. Jim married Jeanette, the love of his life, in 1989 and added two daughters to create a beautiful, blended family. Jim and Jeanette’s family now includes 12 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Jim had a passion for art and music. His talents manifested in many ways…playing the saxophone in bands with his brother, drawing, embroidering, glass etching, pinstriping, and painting on every imaginable surface, including canvas, clothing, vehicles, etc. Jim’s primary genre was painting famous musicians, and his works were showcased and numerous events and gallery showings over the years.

Jim also had a passion for muscle cars and owned many in his lifetime, with his 1968 Firebird being his favorite. When he wasn’t spending time as a devoted husband and father, Jim also enjoyed painting, golf, pool, watching his KC Chiefs and KC Royals, NASCAR, listening to all types of music, and gourmet cooking, including hosting many large family dinners.

Jim was born on October 28, 1944, in Kansas City, MO. He was born to William and Alice (Kinnaird) Marfield and later raised by David and Alice (Kinnaird) Spitcaufsky. Jim is survived by his wife, Jeanette (Porter) Marfield; son, James Marfield and wife Theresa of Leavenworth, KS; son Jason Marfield and wife Marissa of Leavenworth; daughter, Allison Hanks and husband Aaron of Kansas City, MO; daughter, Erikka Jehle and husband Cole of Seattle, WA; daughter, Ande Villafuerte and husband Jorge of Smithville, MO; sister Madeline McCarthy; brother Morris “Moe” Spitcaufsky and wife Carol; brother Walt and wife Deb; 12 grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
