Alonzo "Jim" James Jarman, Age: 81
Sep 16, 1941 - Feb 26, 2023

Alonzo “Jim” Jarman of Independence, Missouri, passed away Sunday, February 26th, 2023, surrounded by his family.

Service will be held on 19 March 2023 at 641 South Ash Ave, Independence, MO 64053, Fairmount Christian Church, starting at 1:00pm. Dinner and a military honor will be held following the service. The family requests that Chiefs gear be worn, for Jim was known to be an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan and wouldn’t want anything to fancy.

Jim was born on September 16th, 1941, in Boonville, Mo to Joseph and Effie Jarman. He served two years in the United States Army from April 25th, 1966, to April 20th, 1968. He continued his career working 30 years with General Motors and retiring in 1992. He loved to hunt, fish, and build knives in his home shop in the basement. While in the military, he found his passion for taking pictures of anything and everything he could. His wife and daughters were his life, as were his grandkids and great grandkids. He enjoyed calling and talking to everyone he could in his family, daily. Jim was strong in his Christian belief and firmly believed in the Holy Spirit.

To many people, he was known as many things such as Jim, daddy, grandpa and even “old man”, but most importantly, he was known as someone who did anything for anyone. He would give you the shirt off his back if he needed too.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Effie, and his brother Joe.

He is survived by wife, Diana Jarman; daughters Kimberly Jarman, and Kelly Meinershagen, son-in-law Lorne Meinershagen; siblings Charlotte Bennefeld, and Janie Flemming; sister-in-law Margaret Jarman; grandchildren Shayla Jarman; Dominic and Kathrine Jarman, Greyson and Brittany Barnett, Peyton Cox; and great grandchildren Hayden and Hadley Barnett, Elana Jarman; and many nieces and nephews.
