N. Lynne Sieverling

Born in Larned Kansas on April 29, 1937, Lynne died on March 3, 2023. He was a graduate of Burdett, Kansas High School and the University of Kansas.

 

Lynne was active in sports during high school and was a Kansas State Tennis Champion and also an All-State Basketball Player while competing at Burdett.

 

He attended KU on a basketball scholarship and was fortunate enough to play briefly with Wilt Chamberlain in 1955. He also played varsity tennis for KU for three years and graduated in 1959 from the Business School with a degree in Accounting.

 

After graduation he was employed by the Kansas City office of Arthur Andersen, CPAs. In 1964 he left Andersen to start his local accounting firm, Fuller, Sieverling and Company. That firm then merged into Coopers & Lybrand in 1969 and opened the first Kansas City office of Coopers. He remained as a partner with Coopers until 1988 when he left to devote more time to his investments in the oil and gas industry and to practice as a sole practitioner CPA.

 

Lynne was active in various civic organizations. He served on the Board of Townsend Place Condominium Association and the Rinehart Foundation of the UMKC Dental School. He was also a member of the Vanguard Club.

 

During his accounting career he was active in various accounting societies and held numerous positions with the Kansas City Chapter of the Certified Public Accountants.

 

He was an avid tennis player and was a member of the Rockhill Tennis Club, the Homestead Tennis Club and various other tennis related organizations.

 

Lynne is survived by his wife, Kaila, his two married sons, Joseph (Danielle) of Arlington, Virginia and David (Jennifer) of Arvada, Colorado. He is also survived by grandchildren, Taylor and Braucher Sieverling of Arlington, Virginia and many nieces and nephews.

 

At the request of Lynne, there will be cremation and no funeral service. Friends of the family will be invited to a Celebration of Life in the near future. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saint Luke’s Hospice House or your favorite charity.
