Carole Ann (Smolensky) Dickerson, 90 years old, died peacefully on Monday, May 22, 2023. She was born on April 12, 1933 to Carole Douglas and Helen Rose Smolensky in Orange, New Jersey. A private family celebration of life will be held in her honor.

Carole attended West Orange, New Jersey public schools and then Drew University in Madison, New Jersey where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology in 1955. She went on to study at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado for advanced studies in Occupational Therapy. She worked as a licensed therapist for thirty-five years. Carole later studied to become a board certified and licensed nursing home administrator and served for three years in this position at Wyoming Care Center in Powell, Wyoming. She retired in 2000. She was a board member for the Powell Hospital Medical Foundation and the Powell Mercantile. Carole was a proud member of the PEO Chapter in Powell.

Carole enjoyed quilting and playing bridge. She loved being surrounded by her dear friends in Garden City, Kansas, Powell, Wyoming and most recently at The Forum in Overland Park, Kansas. She was so very proud of her Polish heritage. Her children were her greatest treasures and she often referred to them as her “diamonds and pearls.”

Carole was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Edward Smolensky and by her beloved husband of 66 years of marriage, Dr. Robert Milam Dickerson. Carole is survived by her sister, Claire Musetto and her four children, Lisa Marquis (John), John Dickerson, Tom Dickerson (Stacey) and David Dickerson. She is also survived by her nine grandchildren, Kristen Reeves (McNab), Allison Emmons (AJ), Lauren Milinazzo (Chris), Sydney Quaid (Alec), Grace Dickerson, Luke Dickerson, Abby Dickerson, Jessi Demel (Lukas) and Reece Dickerson. Carole was joyfully able to spend her last years meeting her 7 great grandchildren, Pace, Mary Linden, Annie, Sanders, Beau, Jack and Sam.

Carole lived her life fully with hard work, compassion and integrity. She will be sadly missed and remembered every day but we will rejoice in knowing that she is in a heavenly place, pain free and surrounded by love. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Powell Medical Foundation, 777 Avenue H, Powell, WY 82435 or online at Powell Valley Healthcare (pvhc.org)
