John Charles Malone, Jr., Age: 92
Sep 05, 1930 - Aug 26, 2023

John “Jack” Charles Malone, Jr. of Kansas City, MO, passed away on Saturday, August 26th, 2023, at the age of 92, surrounded by the love of his family.

Jack’s journey began on September 5th, 1930.  He was born to John and Mable Malone in Kansas City, MO.  Jack was a remarkable man who courageously served his country during the Korean War.  After completing his service to his country, he went on to work for GM at the Leeds Assembly Plant in Kansas City, where he retired in 1988.  After retirement, he spent many years enjoying his grandchildren, “visiting” the casinos and cheering for the Kansas City Chiefs.  He was known as a more reserved man with a quick wit and a wonderful sense of humor.  His stories, laughter and the enduring love he shared will live on in our hearts.  He left an indelible mark on the lives of all who had the great privilege of knowing him.  He leaves behind a legacy that extends through the lives of his children and beyond, as he instilled in them the importance of family and faith.

In 1954, Jack was married to Earlene, the love of his life.  During their 59 year marriage, they had three children: Randy, Brenda and Mark.  The Malone family grew at St. Gabriel Catholic Church and School for many years to come.  Jack was also an active scout master of Boy Scouts troop #112 at St. Gabriel. He will forever remain a symbol of resilience and love. We pray his soul will find eternal peace and that his legacy continues to inspire generations to come.

Jack is preceded in death by his parents, John and Mable Malone; wife, Jessie Earlene (Howell)  Malone; son, Mark Malone; granddaughter, Meredith Malone; and grandson, Jason Schowengerdt. He is survived by his sister, MaryAnn Payton; brother Michael (Leona) Malone; son Randall (Tricia) Malone; and daughter, Brenda (Rob) Schowengerdt.  He leaves behind his grandchildren: Melanie (Sean) Linville, Derick (Amanda) Malone, Jody Malone, Casey Malone, Jessica (Malone) Crews, Jessica Schowengerdt, Jared (Jessica) Malone, Chastyn Malone, Kara and Kyanne Seeley;  8 great-grandchildren: Maddie, Kaden, Hannah, Paitynn, Jack, Lorali, Maelee and Ember;  as well as his many beloved nieces and nephews and friends.

A funeral Mass to honor and remember John “Jack” Charles Malone Jr. will be held on Saturday, September 2nd at 11am at St. Gabriel Archangel Catholic Church, with Visitation one hour prior to the service starting at 10am.  Family and friends are invited to join together to pay their respects and share their memories of a life well-lived. There will be a family luncheon afterward.  Burial with graveside service will take place at the Leavenworth National Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Jack's memory to the St. Gabriel School Scholarship Fund.  Jack was an avid supporter of the school as his children, grandchildren and currently several great-grandchildren have attended.
