Verda Ilene Krokstrom (Ilene), age 93, died peacefully on September 8, 2023, surrounded by her family. She was born on July 12, 1930, in Wichita, Kansas, the oldest of four daughters born to Easl Paul and Orre Elsie Glamser.  As a girl, her family moved to a farm outside of Elsmore, Kansas where she graduated from Elsmore High School in May 1948.

On September 24, 1950, she married DeWayne Krokstrom in Elsmore, Kansas. The couple settled in Independence Missouri where they raised four daughters. 

Ilene was a manager for JC Penney where she worked for over 25 years.  She also volunteered for more than 20 years at Independence Regional Hospital and later Centerpoint Medical Center. She was a member of Eastgate Christian Church where she sang in the choir and was active in the Christian Women's Fellowship.

Ilene was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, DeWayne Krokstrom, her parents and infant sister.  She is survived by two sisters, four daughters, six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren.

A memorial service to honor Ilene’s life will be held at Eastgate Christian Church in Independence, Missouri, at 2pm on September 16, 2023.

Ilene will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know her. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Eastgate Christian Church.
