Barbara Moore Peterson passed away Saturday September 16 at her home in Belton, Missouri. She was born in 1931 in Blount County, Tennessee to Cecil and Barbara Moore. Barbara met and married Don Peterson, the love of her life, and they eventually had four children. After several job-related moves, our family settled in Kansas City in 1967. Barbara moved to Belton in 2010 and made many new friends who truly enriched her life.

She is survived by daughters Sally Smith of Belton, Kathy Miller (Alan) of Las Vegas NV, and Beth Hessel (Patrice) of Phoenix AZ, grandsons Dallas Hessel (Taylor) of Kansas City and Crosby Hessel (Natasha) of Redlands CA, and granddaughter Daria of Redlands CA. She is also survived by her sister Sally Mauney of Leland NC and her nephews Charles Mauney and David Mauney. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Don and son John.

The family will have a celebration of Barbara’s life in the spring. In lieu of flowers, please remember Barbara with a donation to your charity of choice or a donation to the Belton Historical Society (for scholarships) or to Belton Welfare Association.
