Betty Jones, 85, died on September 21, 2023 after suffering a stroke a month prior. She passed away surrounded by her loving family at Ignite Medical Resort in Blue Springs, MO, where she recently moved. 

Betty was born March 21, 1938 in Chillicothe, MO to Frances and Lawrence Saale. She was the eldest of 11 children and spent much of her youth on their family farm helping to care for her younger siblings. 

Betty graduated from Chillicothe High School in 1955. She went on to put herself through business school and graduated with her associate degree. Betty married the love of her life, Herman Jones, on Valentine’s Day in 1959. The two were blessed with 3 children: Craig, Angie and Kent. 

Betty loved to travel. She and Herman made many great memories traveling around the US together. She was also an avid reader and enjoyed mentoring elementary students while living in Lexington, MO. She was very active in book clubs, garden club and Woman’s Auxiliary. 

One of Betty’s greatest joys in life was spending time with her family and friends. She especially loved showing off and spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, parents and her sister, Wanda Hesler. 

She is survived by her 3 children, Craig (Kay) Jones, Angie (Chris) Pearson, Kent (Meili) Jones, 9 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, 9 siblings and many in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends. She is loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure. 

A memorial service will be held at 1:30pm on October 7, 2023 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, 6537 Liv 520, Chillicothe, MO 64601
