Robert "Bob" Gene Blocker, Age: 75

November 3, 1947 ~ November 1, 2023

Robert (Bob) Gene Blocker, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away, on Wednesday, November 1, 2023. He was seventy-five, born November 3, 1947, to Elenora and Edward Blocker. Bob leaves behind his wife of 53 years Linda, daughter Sarah Davidson, married to Justin, grandchildren Toby and Abigail; son Chris Blocker, married to Stephanie, and extended family, Hunter and Kalob, wife Alexis and son Karter, as well as his furry friends Breck and Maxie.

Bob attended Wetmore High School graduating in 1965; BS Business Administration from Emporia State, 1969 and MBA of Marketing from Rockhurst University, 1978. Bob was a member of Alpha Epsilon Chapter of Phi Sigma Kappa Fraternity.

Bob’s career included Kroger Company, Scott Paper Company (Sales Representative), North Supply Company (Marketing Manager), Unique Supermarkets Inc (Assistant Manager), Fleming Companies (Purchasing Specialist) Cash and Carry Wholesale Foods (Director of Purchasing), Unimanage (Director of Purchasing and Loss Prevention) and concluding his career with Sysco Foods.

Bob was an active golfer, golfing several times a week, even to his last day. Bob enjoyed all sports playing basketball in high school, coaching softball, soccer and cheering his children’s local sports teams. Bob never missed a chance to watch and root for the Chiefs and Royals. Bob supported his son as Assistant Scout Master of Boy Scout Troop 260, was a part of Order of the Arrow and assisted his son to achieve the honor of Eagle Scout. Bob was able to fix anything and enjoyed creating, crafting, and building projects out of wood that will become lifetime treasures for others to enjoy. Bob volunteered with Habitat for Humanity for several years building homes for others. Bob shared his love for history with others and was able to complete a book “The Sky Above and The Land Below” about his father’s military career being drafted in 1942, shot down on his 2nd flight, and his story as a POW for 2 years in WWII.

Bob was known for his quiet strength, always caring for others in a considerate and thoughtful way.
