MIKE LEVAN

Mike Levan, 64, passed away Sunday, November 12th, at St. Luke’s Hospice House in Kansas City, MO, after a courageous battle with ALS.  He was born March 26th, 1959, in Dixon, IL to George and Kay (Trotter) Levan.  He grew up in Dixon; later moving to Kansas City, MO; and was a 1977 graduate of Dixon High School.  He married Patty (Powell) on September 21st, 1985, in Dixon, IL.  Mike graduated with a Respiratory Therapy degree and served many hospitals in this capacity; he spent the last 15 years working at Saint Luke’s Hospital caring for patients.  He was an avid Chicago Bears fan and enjoyed old cars.  Mike loved everything family and his greatest joy in life was spending time with his family and most especially his 6 grandkids. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, brother (David) and daughter (Emily).  Mike is survived by his wife Patty; his children Ashley (Chris) Jaeger and Kayla (Cody) Hunt; his grandchildren David, Emily, Bryna, and Nora Jaeger and Lincoln and Eleanor Hunt; his siblings Chuck (Barb) Levan, Lisa (Tim) Walters, and numerous nieces and nephews;  A visitation will be held 2:00 – 3:00 p.m., Saturday November 18th, at Pine Ridge Presbyterian Church in Kansas City, MO; followed by a 3:00 p.m. funeral service officiated by Reverend Craig Holstedt.  Memorial contributions can be given to St. Luke’s Hospice House.

Mike was an instrumental part of my life and career in the ICU. He taught me so much, and he was full of life and energy. He was an amazing man and touched so many lives. I watched him overcome so many hardships with a smile. He will be truly missed.
