Malinda “Mindy” Green

October 10, 1970 - November 3, 2023

On November 3, 2023, the world lost an incredible bright light when Malinda “Mindy” Green (nee Campbell), 53, of Shawnee, Kansas, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer.

Mindy brought joy to all who knew her, and her smile lit up the room. She knew just the right thing to say in any situation and instantly put those around her at ease. Mindy loved her husband beyond words, and was the most supportive daughter, sister, aunt, and friend one could ask for.

Mindy was born October 10, 1970, in St. Louis. She grew up in Bridgeton, Missouri, and graduated from Pattonville High School. She received her bachelor’s degree in education from Missouri State University and earned her master’s degree and completed “plus 30” post graduate hours at the University of Missouri-St Louis.

Throughout her career in education, Mindy impacted not only the lives of countless students, but also her colleagues and the community at large. She spent the majority of her career in the Pattonville School District—her alma mater. She taught language arts and served as a guidance counselor at Holman Middle School, and then as a guidance counselor at Pattonville High School.

Mindy was devoted to her family and loved spending as much time with them as she could. She was a loving and thoughtful daughter and a cherished sister. She had a very close relationship and special bond with her nieces and nephews, who all saw her not only as the “fun” aunt, but also as a friend, confidante, counselor, and cheerleader who was always there to love and support them.

There was no better friend around than Mindy. She poured love into each of her relationships and made everyone feel seen, heard and valued. Mindy gave the best advice, was a great listener, and had an amazing sense of humor. It was always a given that many smiles and laughs would be shared anytime you were with her.

In June 2015, Mindy met the love of her life, Terry. While their love story got a late start and ended way too soon, it was well worth the wait and the journey. Mindy always said she did not want to settle—and she didn’t. Terry was her rock and her soulmate. They both genuinely loved being with one another and shared an infectious witty banter. They wed on June 7, 2019, and Mindy moved to Shawnee, Kansas. They became Chiefs’ season ticket holders and enjoyed tailgating.  They loved traveling and spending time with family and friends in Kansas City, St. Louis, Texas and Wichita. Together, Mindy and Terry shared an unwavering faith in God, and they brought each other a sense of peace and comfort.

Mindy may have left us way too soon, but her reach was far and wide, and we will forever carry her in our hearts.

Mindy is survived by her husband, Terry Green; her stepchildren Payton Green and Gavin Green; her parents Betty Campbell and Larry (Karen) Campbell; her siblings Bo (Cathy) Campbell, Leigh (Scott) Shull; her nieces and nephews Christie Campbell, Daniel Campbell, Kelly Campbell, Sam Shull and Sadie Shull.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at Calvary Church, 3998 Mid Rivers Mall Drive, St. Peters, MO from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Special Olympics.
