Charles R. Cunningham, Age: 85
Jun 05, 1938 - Nov 12, 2023

Charles Raymond Cunningham, 85, passed away peacefully in his home after a long battle with Alzheimer’s on Sunday November 12, 2023. Charles was born on June 5, 1938 in Mena, Arkansas.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father Raymond and Norma, and his brother Denny. He is survived by his wife Macaline, brothers Bobby and Wiley Cunningham, sister Kay Rector, son Michael (Scott), daughter Lisa Herring, three grandchildren Kaylyn, Lexi and Deke Herring.

Charles graduated from Mena High School in 1957. He was an artillery surveyor for the United States Army and served his country overseas for about a year. He was honorably discharged from the Army in August of 1961 after three years of service. He then married his wife Macaline in December of 1961. Charles and Macaline had two children, Michael (Scott), 1963, and Lisa, 1968.

Anyone that knew Charles knew that he was the most kind hearted man, one who was willing to help anyone and everyone. His love for his family and friends was immeasurable. He enjoyed golf, his work, hunting and fishing in Wyoming, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was so proud to be a grandpa and loved his grandchildren more than anything.

He was admitted into hospice care in July of 2022 due to complications from his Alzheimer’s and diabetes. Since then, he was able to live out the rest of his time on Earth in the comfort of his own home. He was always so happy and greeted everyone, from family and friends to his hospice nurses, with a smile and a “well hello, how are you?” In his last moments, he was surrounded by the love and support of his loved ones. His passing has left a void in many lives, he will forever be in our hearts.

The family is not planning on having services at this time. We wanted to share a little about the life of this wonderful, kind soul. Charles will be deeply missed
