Leslie Glenn Lowrey, 80, of Kansas City, MO, passed away  Thursday, April 18, 2024 at home because of injuries on February 12, 2024.

Leslie was born in Odessa, MO to parents George F. and Lois Mae (McClurc) Lowrey during his father's naval service at Pearl Harbor.

The family moved to Oak Grove, MO after the war.  There Les completed all grades of school with graduation in May, 1961.  In June of 1961 he joined the Navy.  After training in California and Chicago he served on the USS Strickel until June 1964.

Les married Shirley Dodson Lowrey on June 8, 1963 celebrating 60 years in June of 2023.

Les retired November 1, 2008 from TWA/American Airlines Overhaul base in Kansas City, MO (41 years)

Survivors include; his wife, Shirley Lowrey, daughter, Kristina Newbury and Danny Newbury, grandchildren; Amanda Newbury Fisher, Brandon Fisher and Daniel Newbury, greatgrandchildrn; Sebastian and Julian.

Son, Stephen Lowrey and wife Nani Bargfried Lowrey, three grandsons; Ben, Brad and Brian

Brother, Richard Lowrey and wife Deanna Lowrey, neice Ashley Lowrey Frew and Brian.  3 great nieces and a great nephew.

Les enjoyed gardening, bowling, golf and helping to coach baseball for all his grandchildren.  His quiet manner and his big smile proved many friends over these 80 plus years.

Memorial services will 10:00 Friday, April 26. 2024 at Avondale United Methodist, 3101 NE Winn Road, Kansas City, MO 64117.  Inurnment with Military Honors at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, 6600 NE Antioch Road,  Gladstone, MO 64119
