Will you hold me when I die,
And will you look me in the eye,
Will you help me know my living was worthwhile
Be my mother and be my friend
Will you see me through the end
Will you help me leave this world far behind.
Song written by Garth William Matthes 10/16/44
Garth left this world far behind on 8/30/24, held by his family and loved by his community.
No flowers please. If you wish to make a donation of remembrance to St. Lukes Hospice House or any musical foundation of your liking, he will surely delight in your choice.
No formal funeral services will be held. Future Celebration of Life to be announced.
I am sorry to hear of Garth’s passing. I have thought of him frequently over the years since I last saw him and am so happy to have known him, he who helped me know myself. I still refer to him inside, I still feel him. I don’t have Jacquie’s or Sam’s current numbers but would welcome contact. Love, Eric

Sam and Garth were and remain the most important couple In my life. Through their counseling first Sam, then Garth, and return to Sam I was able to deal with my past and obtained an Invisible tool belt filled with insights, comments and tools to help me cope with my past, improve my current life and really live my future days. Garth, his music, his laugh and attitude will forever be in my heart. As long as we that love him keep him in our, hearts, minds, our memories and conversations, he will live on within us and the nany others he helped free of darkness. Remember, He was just Go’in Home. As that song “ Go’in Home” says, He’s not far just close by through an open door. Gonna roam no more. We will see him again, if we keep our faith, bond in love, and give our spirits to God at the end. Mike
