Carol Phyllis Philgreen

Carol Phyllis Philgreen passed away August 29th, 2024 in Overland Park, Kansas. She was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota to David and Beda Wallin. Carol and her loving husband, Ron, lived in Chicago, Illinois and San Jose, California before moving to Overland Park, Kansas in 1971. They raised 3 children who cherished how kind, gentle and thoughtful she was. She cared so deeply and was the best person to talk to about anything. She loved planning celebrations for holidays, reunions with her sisters and birthdays, always having in mind a special activity for the youngest ones in the group.  She was softspoken, but had a delightful sense of humor and was often the source of themes, funny skits and crazy contests when family was together. Carol had an amazing ability to see and soak in the beauty of God’s creation around her, be it in the lacy patterns of leaves against the sunlit sky or the layers of color in her garden. All things green thrived in her care. She loved the arts, beautiful paintings and was an artist herself. Most importantly, she had a steadfast, quiet faith in the Lord that underpinned everything she said and did.

In her professional life she started as a secretary in engineering and telecommunications, and through years of growing in knowledge and experience, was promoted to systems engineer, responsible for the cutover from old analog switches to the new digital switching equipment. Her coworkers appreciated how thorough she was, leaving nothing to chance and no detail unaddressed in these critical and complicated projects. She was a woman far ahead of her time, but she always said her best accomplishment was her family.

She is preceded in death by her sisters, Helen Beck, Florence Brown and Betty Green. She is survived by her husband, Ronald Philgreen, her children, Sherri Aron and her husband Mark, David Philgreen and his wife Hilary, Catherine Jill Blazer and her husband Steve, six grandchildren, Carrie Stephen, Stephanie Aron, Luke Philgreen, Kimberly Blazer, Rachel Aron, William Blazer and Lance Philgreen, sisters Dorothy Lancaster and Julie Haeberle and a large loving extended family.

I am sad and sorry to hear of Carol's passing but I KNOW I will see her again! Susan and I have loved them since our Jr. High school days, and of course being the candle lighters in their wedding was always so special to us. Love to Ron, and the kids and know I will be praying for you all as you celebrate her life. Sure do wish I could be there!! Love, Sally

Uncle Ron, Sheri, David, and Jill, and all your families. Our hearts break ,with yours, at the home going of my dear, Aunt Carol. She was a soft spoken, sweet, funny, smiling, fiercely loyal, and a beautiful lady. Her love for her family was so evident in all she did. As I think of her being called to heaven, I imagine a celebration of the Angels, as another faithful one was finally home. And now those of you, who loved her so much, are left to grieve, but not as those who have no hope. Praise God for the hope we have in Christ and eternity together. She has just gone ahead of us. Wishing we could be there to hug you and celebrate Aunt Carol’s life with you. Please know that you all are in our hearts and prayers. We love you so much! Debbie and Dave Boone

Dear Ron and family! I am so sorry to hear that sweet Carol has left us to be with her savior ! I have known the Philgreen family for over 50 years. I got to know them when we lived in San Jose, CA. We went to the same church together. Carol’s sister Dorothy and I have been very close friends since our San Jose time. My condolences goes out to the family and friends of Carol!
