Anne Louise Dallager Broshar, Age: 92

Anne Louise Dallager Broshar, 92, passed away September 23, 2024, at Tallgrass Creek in Overland Park, KS. Anne was born in Sheldon Iowa on March 29, 1932, to Albert Louis Dallager and Fanny Moody Dallager (Alexander). Anne met her husband, Gerry, at Iowa State College in 1950 and they were married June 14, 1952, in Des Moines Iowa. They immediately moved to Norfolk Virginia where Gerry started a 3-year Navy career. She was a stay-at-home mother and homemaker until 1968 when she returned to college and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in 1970.

She started a career as a Girl Scout Professional in Davenport Iowa, specializing in outdoor programming and managing several camps. Throughout her working years she did several different jobs; Executive Director of the Clinton Iowa YWCA, Girl Scouting in Illinois and Wisconsin, Real Estate Agent, Executive Director of the Clinton Area Substance Abuse Council. Anne loved to be involved in her community and was always active on church committees, local politics and community improvement efforts wherever she lived. She loved working with junior high and high school aged kids. She volunteered at the public schools giving presentations, taught Sunday school and taught at Clinton Community College.

Anne and Gerry loved to vacation in northern Minnesota. Upon retiring they bought a lake home on Woman Lake in Longville, MN. Retirement days were filled with planting flowers, boating, turtle races volunteer, piano accompanist at church, playing bridge, arts council, helping a friend start a coffee shop in town and hosting many families and friends to the lake. To escape the cold winters of Minnesota, they spent time in Englewood, FL where they enjoyed the beaches, golf, bridge and socializing. Together, they enjoyed traveling all over the U.S., Canada and Europe.

Anne lived a meaningful and joyful life. She loved meeting new people and she made friends all over the U.S. and has gotten actively involved in all of the communities she lived in. 5 years ago, Anne and Gerry moved to Tallgrass Creek to be closer to family. Anne immediately got involved in book club, bridge, choir, P.E.O, and of course the hospitality committee to welcome new people to their new community. In her free time, she enjoyed; sewing, knitting, cooking, music, crafts, golf, reading and crossword puzzles. Anne loved animals, she had many dogs and cats as pets over the years.

She loved her P.E.O sisters in all of the many chapters she belonged over her 74-year membership. She was still an active member until her death. She loved to cook and hosted many a dinner party trying out new recipes on her guests. She accomplished the last thing on her bucket list of visiting all 50 states when she traveled with her daughter and two of her granddaughters to Hawaii in 2017.
