Scott Stafford Green, 51, passed away on Saturday, October 12, 2024 in Overland Park, KS after courageously fighting glioblastoma brain cancer for four years. Scott handled his diagnosis and battle with such grace, never complaining or feeling sorry for himself. He participated in every treatment and clinical trial he was able to, fighting to be here each day. While in treatment, Scott continued to work for almost three years and his top priority was making memories with family and friends.
Scott was born in Garnett, KS to John & Diane Green on December 20, 1972. He later moved to Topeka, KS where he attended high school and found his love of the lake at Lake Sherwood. Scott loved nothing more than getting on the boat and tying up with friends and even did so while he was working as the water patrol for the lake!
Scott started his college career at the University of Kansas before coming to his senses and heading west. He spent three years in Manhattan and graduated from Kansas State University in 1996 and cherished his years in the Little Apple. Scott always considered himself one of the Dean Liquor boys, still loved to tell stories about 1011, and enjoyed every second of his time in Aggieville. He made lifelong friends that have a million stories to share about those days, only a few of which are appropriate to share with his children!
After graduating from KSU, Scott began working in the staffing industry for Allegis Group and spent his entire career with them. He worked in several different divisions, including TEKsystems, Aerotek and Actalent. Scott loved working for Allegis Group because he so enjoyed the people he met and the connections he made on a daily basis. Senor Verde also very much enjoyed the sales contest trip to Cancun each year!
Scott met his wife, Maureen, in 2004 and they married in 2009 in a backyard ceremony at his parents house on Lake Sherwood. They welcomed their son, Parker, in 2011 and daughter, Ally in 2013. Scott loved being with his wife and kids and sharing the things he loved most, including Cobalts, Costco, K State, sandwiches (especially from Woods), home improvement, a cozy fire, movies, yardwork, HGTV and his amazing work ethic.
Scott’s love of the lake had him tour several area lakes, including Lake Perry and Longview Lake, before finding his happy place in Stockton, MO. Scott’s cabin was his happiest place on earth and he loved spending the summers there watching his kids jump off cliffs and enjoy time with their lake friends as he and Maureen did the same.
Some of Scott’s favorite memories include traveling with his family, attending Parker & Ally’s games and performances, guys trips with his best friends, father/son trips with his Dad and Uncle Bill to Madeline Island and later taking Parker for his own father/son trips, wineries, the perfect margarita, a great steak, Kenny Chesney, Torreon’s, Million Dollar Listing and a few lesser known things like watching Hallmark Christmas movies with Ally, Red, White & Boom pops and Butterfinger Blizzards from Dairy Queen - a medium with extra Butterfinger. Scott never met a person or a cocktail he didn’t like. We will reluctantly move on with our lives but each time we see any one of these things or a million other things, we will stop in our tracks and remember the man we love and miss so so much.
Scott is preceded in death by his grandparents as well as his father, John Green. Scott’s memory and spirit will live on through his adoring wife, Maureen (Cierpiot) Green and his two children Parker (13) and Ally (11), his mom Diane Green, sister Kristie Jones and nephew Logan Jones, all of St. Louis, MO as well as many other aunts, uncles, cousins, brother and sister-in-laws, mother-in-law, nieces and nephews. Scott was an amazing husband, father, son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, and nephew but he was most known for being a friend to literally everyone he met.
A celebration of Scott’s remarkable life will be held on Friday, October 18th at 1 p.m. at Life Church in Overland Park, KS (9800 W. 135th Street). Scott’s faith became increasingly important to him over years and he found comfort and peace attending Life Church. We will continue to celebrate Scott after the service at Chicken N Pickle (5901 W. 135th Street) the way Scott would most approve - spending time together with a cocktail in hand.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Scott’s name to the KU Chapter of Camp Kesem (https://www.kesem.org/chapters/kansas) or Head for the Cure (https://headforthecure.org/). Parker & Ally attended Camp Kesem this past summer, a camp for children who have a parent that had or does have cancer. Kesem has already made a huge impact on them and they cherish the friendships they’ve made with campers and counselors.
Scott’s Crew made a name for themselves at the Head for the Cure walk in Kansas City the last two years and was the third largest team with 270 members and raising over $30,000. He was very passionate about both of these organizations and would be honored with any contributions.

I'm so very sorry for your loss. I used to work with both John and Diane Green at Coldwell Banker Griffith & Blair. Both of them spoke often of Scott. Your family is in my prayers. Sally Brooke
