Alexander Garrett DeFord, 42, of Raytown, Missouri, passed away unexpectedly Friday, October 18, 2024.
Alex was born April 1, 1982, in Jefferson City, Missouri to Paul and Terrie DeFord. After graduating from Lee's Summit High School in 2000, Alex worked as a heavy equipment machinist and for Shamrock Cabinet, Co. He was also licensed as a private security officer through the KCPD. He overcame health challenges and became an inspiration to those around him. He dedicated his life to fun, love, hugs and kisses.
He was preceded in death by his father Paul DeFord. He is survived by his life partner and best friend, Wendy; mother Terrie DeFord; children Paul and Mark and bonus children Jonathan and Molly; siblings Kyle (Jill) DeFord and Kathleen (Nic) Schrader; nephew Brecken and niece Leena Schrader. He also leaves behind many family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
Alex was a huge KC Chiefs fan. He loved going to the zoo and was an avid walker. Alex never met a stranger. He was always willing to help anyone who needed it. More than anything else, Alex loved his family. His children were his world. He loved taking care of Wendy and the children and continued to do just that until the moment he left this world, way too soon.
