Eugene "Gene" Allen Moyer, Age: 82
Oct 27, 1942 - Oct 31, 2024

Eugene Allen “Gene” Moyer passed away in Kansas City, MO, on 10/31/24.  He was 82 years old.

Gene was born in San Diego, CA, on 10/27/1942 to Cyril (Cy) Emily George Moyer and Wilhelmina Helen (Schuch) Moyer.  He was preceded in death by both parents.

He graduated from The University of Minnesota with his undergraduate degree and went on to acquire many masters hours in Psychology.

Gene spent most of his career in the insurance industry in commercial risk and claims management with emphasis on workplace safety.  He was considered an expert in his field and even in retirement was consulted by former clients and colleagues.

He lived in St. Louis, MO, many years where he became involved in the revitalization of residential real estate.  Many homes in the historic neighborhoods of Tower Grove, Soulard and Lafayette Square were the benefactors of his skills in home repair and renovation.

One of Gene’s loves was motorcycle riding which he did from the time he was a teenager until very recently.  His bike of choice was BMW and he traveled many miles of this country enjoying nature in the company of his riding buddies, many of whom were friends from grade school.  He also loved his annual fishing trips to MN (where he grew up) and Canada.

He is survived by his wife, Rhonda Reeves, stepson Jeff (Jill) Viehman, stepdaughter Tara Viehman; grandchildren Brandon (Tiffany), Grant (Kate) and Ava Viehman; great grandchildren Lizzie Sloma, Zeke and Ellie Viehman. He is also survived by his sister Jeanette (Pete) Burmeister; nieces Jen Barr and Krista Adams; great nephews Ryan Rosenbauer, Brett Attenburger, Ethan and Alex Adams; great nieces Megan Rosenbauer and Brianna Attenburger.

Gene was a kind and gentle soul who will be sadly missed by his family and many, many friends for whom he was the “go to guy”.

Gene adopted his latest best friend, Luca, a standard poodle in June of 2023 from the Humane Society of Greater Kansas City, MO.  As he requested, there will be no funeral or service. Donations in his memory may be sent to HSGKC.org or Northland Animal Welfare Society (NAWS).

I didn't get to meet Gene, but wanted to send a note to Rhonda and her family. Wishing you much love and peace during this time. Though our senses feel the lack of presence, our hearts know that our loved ones who transitioned out of body continue to be with us.
