Kathryn "Kate" Coleman, Age: 62
Aug 16, 1962 - Dec 10, 2024

Kathryn (Kate) Marie Coleman, aged 62, passed away on December 10, 2024. She was a beloved mother, wife, grandmother, teacher, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew and cherished her.

Kate was born on August 16, 1962 to George Nelson and Linda Knapp. She spent most of her formative years in Oregon, WI, with her siblings Mark, Jennifer, and Amy. She loved dressing her cats in doll clothes and dancing. She graduated from Oregon High School in 1980 and went on to attend Ambassador College in Pasadena, CA.  After earning her B.A. in Theology in 1984, she met the love of her life, Ramon (Donald) Coleman, in Smithville, MO.  They married on December 9, 1984, and recently celebrated 40 years of marriage.

Ramon and Kate moved to Smithville, MO, shortly after the birth of their daughter, Rachael.  Their son, Jonathan, was born five years later.  Kate was a devoted mother who was always on the move, whether it be vacuuming or taking her children to their activities. She greatly enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, exuding joy that brightened their lives.

Kate dedicated 25 years to the Smithville School District as a substitute teacher, preschool aide, and volunteer.  She brought smiles to many through her joyful and witty personality and was beloved by countless students and teachers.  Kate’s faith was an integral part of her life and she was deeply involved in her church community.

Kate is survived by her loving husband, Ramon; her children, Rachael Frazee (Daniel) and Jonathan Coleman (Lexen Beran); and her grandchildren, Annabelle, Sophia, and William Frazee.  She is also survived by her mother, Linda Knapp (Mitchell); stepmother, Judith Nelson; siblings, Mark (Colleen) Nelson, Jennifer (Rod) Hise, Amy (Scott) Acker, Laurie (Michael) Bish; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family. Kate touched the lives of many in her community. She is preceded in death by her father, George Nelson.

So sorry to hear about this, she was such an amazing kind person. I don't have a childhood/teenage memory that she wasn't there for camping trips and winter retreats. She always made a point to say hello to me and talk to me even if she hadn't seen me in ages. She will be deeply missed and prayers go out to her family.
