Marilyn Elaine Vandegrift (1953-2024)

Marilyn Elaine Westfall-Vandegrift, 71, of Kansas City, MO, passed away peacefully at Tiffany Springs Rehabilitation Center on December 26, 2024.

Marilyn was born in Bethesda, Maryland, in 1953 to Robert and Rose Marie Westfall. She spent much of her early life in Norfolk, Virginia, where she created cherished memories before eventually moving to Missouri. For over 20 years, Marilyn dedicated herself to her work at the Kansas City Airport, forming lasting friendships before her retirement.

Marilyn was an avid traveler who found immense joy in exploring national parks, with Yellowstone National Park holding a special place in her heart. She loved the beauty of nature and the thrill of discovering new places. Marilyn also had a special affection for cardinals, and she filled her home with numerous collectibles and keepsakes featuring these beautiful red birds.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Vandegrift, her father, Robert Westfall, and her sister, Linda Westfall. She is survived by her beloved mother, Rose Marie Westfall; her brothers, Michael and Stanley Westfall; her sons, Steven Ritter and his wife Cynthia, Mark Ritter, and Jeffery Ritter and his wife Jennifer. Marilyn was also a proud grandmother to Katie, Kaleb, Lexi, and Lucas, who brought immense joy to her life.

Marilyn will be remembered for her kindness and her love for her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
