Madison Darrah Spurgeon

In Loving Memory of Madison Darrah Spurgeon
June 30,1994 – February 11, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Madi, who left this world far too soon at the age of 30. She brought joy and laughter to those around her, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, warmth, and unwavering love. Madi’s ever-present smile and compassionate heart touched everyone she met.

Madi adored her family with every fiber of her being. Born in Liberty, MO, Madi was the beloved daughter of Shannon Lodge and Rick Spurgeon and the adored youngest sibling to Amber Lodge (Alex), Tyler Cooney (Shikha), Jourdan Lodge (Jeff), and Caleb Spurgeon (Hailey). Among her greatest joys was her special bond with her niece, Jewlyana Lodge, cherishing every moment they spent together. Her love also extended to her youngest niece and nephew, Preston and Milly Thompson, as well as her treasured grandfather, John Lodge. Madi is now reunited with her late grandparents, Clyda Lodge and Gladys and Harlen Spurgeon.

To Madi, friendship was just another form of family, and she nurtured those bonds with the same love and devotion. She had a rare gift of making everyone she met feel valued, seen, and unconditionally loved. With her bright smile—one that never seemed to fade—she brought joy wherever she went.

Her compassion extended beyond people to every living creature she encountered. Whether rescuing strays, nurturing bearded dragons, or simply offering a gentle touch to any animal in need, her compassion knew no limits. Her heart was especially devoted to her beloved dog, Doja, with whom she is now reunited.

She was also a devoted Kansas City Royals fan, proudly cheering them on through every season. Whether watching from the stands or from home, she found so much joy in supporting her team, celebrating victories, and holding onto hope through tough seasons—just as she did in life. Madi also had a passion for creating delicious meals, growing many of her favorite fruits and vegetables herself. She tended to her plants with the same gentle care she brought to everything in life.

Her absence leaves an immeasurable void. Madi’s kindness, laughter, and unconditional love will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She taught us to love fiercely, to care deeply, and to treasure the bonds that make life truly special.

A celebration of her life will be held at a later date, where we will gather to honor her memory, share stories, and continue her legacy of love. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Madi’s honor to Great Plains SPCA, ensuring her love for animals continues to make a difference. Great Plains SPCA - Donate
