Daniel (Dan) Kent Cook of Lee’s Summit, Missouri was born on March 4, 1948, and passed away on his 77th birthday—March 4, 2025.
He was born in Wichita, Kansas to Marte and Wilma Cook. Dan graduated from Wichita State University in 1970, and from the University of Kansas with an M.B.A. in 1973.
Dan partnered to form the Lee’s Summit-based accounting firm, Halbhuber & Cook, P.C. in 1979, where he continued to work as a CPA for 34 years.
He retired in 2013, where he focused his free time on his true passion—playing golf with friends. Dan also enjoyed vacationing in Estes Park, Colorado, piloting his drone, and riding his beloved electric tricycle.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Marte and Wilma. He is survived by his devoted wife of 48 years, Maggie Cook; sons, Matt and Ben; and brother Scott (and Llora Cook).
He was a wonderful and loving husband; and a hilarious and proud father. Dan’s sharp wit, golf obsession, and kindness to animals will not be forgotten. We will miss him dearly.
