It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Kermit “Dale” Hunt, 87, on March 17, 2025 in Kansas City, MO. Dale was a resident of Independence, MO and Jay, FL. He was born in Bethany, MO and raised in Lone Jack, MO. Dale was a Vietnam veteran, enlisting in the US Navy in 1954 and proudly serving his country until 1974. Upon his retirement from the Navy, his second career was in the over-the-road truck and transportation business until 2005.

Dale was a member of The American Legion Post 61. He had a passion for motorcycles and subsequently joined the Patriot Guard Riders, participating in and honoring the services of fallen military heroes, first responders and veterans. Dale was a member of Lottie Baptist Church and attended Lone Jack Christian Church.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Cox, of the home; children, Wally and Kevin Hunt, Cindy White (Mike), Doug, Steve (Carol), and Peggy Prettyman; brother-in-law, Peter “Chip” Barbas (Becky); 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his late wife, Frances (d. 2007) and children, Kim and Kenny Hunt.

Memorial donations may be made in Dale’s name to Lone Jack Christian Church, 200 W Lone Jack Lees Summit Rd, Lone Jack, MO 64070.
