Fred Daniel "Dan" Madinger
Aug 16, 1947 - Apr 01, 2025

Fred Daniel “Dan” Madinger went to be with his heavenly father on April 1, 2025. He passed peacefully at home surrounded by family.

Dan was born on August 16, 1947 in St. Joseph, Missouri to Fred “Dutch” and Louise (Hays) Madinger. Dan is survived by his wife, Alice Marie (June) Madinger of Gladstone, his son, Daniel (Kellee) Madinger of Kansas City and grandsons Adrian and Chris; his daughter Ann (Brad) Wardlow of Kansas City and granddaughters Nevaeh “Nay”, Bailee “Bay” and Sophia “SJ”; his lifelong friend Bob Crawford (AMK), cousin Trisha (Hays) Kantrowitz, numerous cousins, and his cat TC. As Dan said “you know who you are and you know (or should know) that you are loved”.

Dan graduated from Central High School in 1965. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1967 and was stationed in Germany. In 1969, Dan married Marie, and they lived in Germany until his honorable discharge in 1970. He went on to earn his Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Missouri Western State College in 1973. Dan and Marie called various places home, including Kansas City, Missouri; Butler and Pittsburg, Pennsylvania; and Edison, New Jersey, where their son, Daniel, was born in 1979. Shortly after that they returned to St. Joseph, Missouri, and their daughter, Ann was born in 1984. They moved to Gladstone, Missouri in 2019 to be close to the grandkids to attend many sports and school activities.

Dan was active at St. Paul United Methodist and New Generation Singers in St. Joseph, Missouri, and Faubion United Methodist Church in Gladstone, Missouri.

Dan described his professional career as “helping those who need help”. He loved his pets and had several dogs and one special cat. Then came Delaney and TC.

Dan described himself as “a son, husband, father, and grandfather” with the grandkids calling him Geep, just like his license plate that read Geeep.

Daniel Jr. Employer ,Kansas City ,Missouri

On behalf of University Health/Daniel Jr.s coworkers we would like to send our condolences to the family. We have heard so many stories of Daniel Senior and wish we could have known him better, but through his son we know that he must have been a great man and a great father because of the person that Daniel Junior is. We will be keeping the family in our prayers asking that God gives you a peace beyond all understanding and know that one day you all meet up again.

So many great Ps stories and wonderful reunions! I am sitting with Mom in the hospice suite. She had a stroke 4-4 that affected speech, swallowing, and mobility. But she would want you to know we’re thinking of you and sending our love & prayers! So sorry for your loss, Marie.

Friend ,Springfield ,Missouri

Sending Marie and her family love and support. My late husband, Wayne and I met Dan and Marie through TG and Y in St. Joseph Missouri. We became fast friends and were in square dancing together. They put me up one night a week with my newborn baby (Maria), so I could work back to back 12 hour shifts in dialysis. I left (Maria) at the same babysitter that Dan and Marie also used for their son. What a great friendship….. Thinking of you all….Much Love, Diana Schweitzer
