Martin “Marty” Joseph Thompson passed peacefully May 20, 2025 at the age of 76 at KU Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.

Born March 21, 1949, in Springfield, IL to Howard and Trudy Thompson of Tulsa, OK along with younger brother Michael Thompson, and sisters Marie Thompson Siebert and Mary Lynn Thompson.

Marty, was a hardworking man of many hats, he had a beauty supply business for years, then did work in the oilfields, eventually receiving a mud engineering degree. Later in life he would become an over-the-road truck driver, with over 2 million miles in his 20 years with Teamsters Local 41, ABF Freight.

Marty enjoyed baseball, traveling with his wife to classic car and boat shows, and of course garage sales where he could pick up anything that caught his fancy, at home he favored sitting on his boat dock in the rain listening to the birds that surrounded their home at Lake of the Ozarks.

Marty is survived by his wife Barbara, son Thomas Thompson, daughter Amber Osborn and youngest son Martin Thompson.  Grandchildren, Daniel, Riley, Leah, Spencer, Bailee, Martin, Aaron, Addison and great grandchild Nova.  Marty was predeceased by eldest son Ronald Sawyer.

Funeral Service will be held at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Smithville, MO @ 10:00 AM Saturday May 31, 2025.
