Robert (Bob) Leo Kenney Jr., 71, passed away surrounded by family on June 7, 2025. He was born on July 10th , 1953, in Kansas City, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his mother and father.

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Lorraine, son Daniel (Ami) Kenney, grandson Ryan Kenney, brothers Tim and Jeff (Kim) Kenney, along with several extended family members.

Bob was a compassionate, loyal, and courageous man who dedicated much of his life to the service of others. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps and went on to serve as a decorated New York City police officer for 20 years. Throughout his career and life, Bob was known for his selflessness-he often helped those in need, either by giving to the less fortunate, offering a listening ear to those going through a hard time, or entering a burning building to save lives during his time with the NYPD.

He had a deep love for reading and enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing and gardening. Above all, Bob cherished time with his family. He was a proud and loving husband, father, and grandfather. His greatest joy was being a dad-and inrecent years, spending time with his grandson Ryan, whom he supported in every way and celebrated all of his achievements with pride.

He will be deeply missed and never forgotten by his family and those whose lives he has touched.

A Veteran's Memorial Service will be held on July 11, 2025, at 12:30 PM at Leavenworth National Cemetery. A gathering for family and friends will follow at 2608 Stratford Road, Lawrence, Kansas.
