David Wesley Lockard, Age: 81

David Wesley Lockard, 81, of Grandview, Missouri passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at Beautiful Savior Nursing Home in Belton.

David was born January 2, 1944, to William “Wesley” Lockard and Virginia Enlow Lockard in Kirksville, Missouri. After Virginia’s death in 1949, he was raised by his father and stepmother, Juanita Enlow Lockard, in Grandview, Missouri. Dave graduated from Grandview High School in 1962. After high school, he attended College of the Ozarks where he met his future wife, Mary Clare Thompson. Dave and Mary were married in 1965 and together they raised three children, Lisa, David “Randy”, and Christi.

Dave served in the Army from 1965-1968. He was very proud to serve his country. After his time in the service, Dave worked for Butler Manufacturing for 33 years. In retirement, he pursued his passions of fishing, hunting, wildlife, boating and trips with his family. In recent years he enjoyed time with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and especially his wife of 60 years, Mary.

Dave will be missed for his awesome sense of humor, endless stories and dedication to his family.

The family wishes to thank the incredible staff at Beautiful Savior Nursing Home for their loving care.

Dave is survived by his loving wife, Mary. He also leaves behind his children, Lisa and husband Steve of Independence, Randy and wife Sarah of Kansas City, and Christi and husband Robert of Belton, along with grandchildren Morgan, Madison, David, Ryan, Dakota, Trevor and great grandchildren Rylan and Koda.

A gathering to celebrate Dave’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 10, 2025, at Harrisonville United Methodist Church.
